How Long Does Fresh Sushi Grade Tuna From The Supermarket Last?

I ordered some yellowfin tuna and the local market just called to say it is ready for pickup and I am wondering how long it will last. Do I have to get it all eaten in a day? Or do I have a couple or even a few days to get it eaten? I think I read or heard once before that I can’t freeze it but I wanted to have a fun little party tomorrow with some friends over for a homemade sushi and japanese style party.
thanks for any help!

While the other 2 have your best interest at heart, a piece of fish properly stored and wrapped will last a few days, I am not an expert, but I did work in Japan, at a hotel with a sushi bar, and am a sort of a classically trained chef for over 20+ years and did work in Jamaica, Japan, Singapore and in Canada were I am from, while it will not last forever it is fresh and wrapped in plastic and in a container on a middle shelf it is fine until tomorrow.

Keep it tightly rapped in plastic and below 38 degrees and you should be fine for 3-4 days. Keep in mind that it is always better fresh. If it starts to smell like fish it is going bad, it should have little or no smell.

I always consume fish the day of purchase, but I’m sure it will be fine for a party tomorrow.

Don’t buy sushi from the supermarket.
